Jamie Duffy releases brand new EP 'For The Moon'
Monaghan’s folk / neoclassical sensation Jamie Duffy, the 23-year-old composer, has released his highly anticipated sophomore EP “For The Moon”. Dripping in dark-academia imagery and sounds, the cinematic and romantic EP is Jamie’s ode to the “everpresent nature of the Moon.” Jamie continues to collaborate with BAFTA winner and Emmy nominated Icelandic composer Atli Örvarsson on the production of the EP, which is slightly more synth-focused and felted to its predecessor “On A Wing”.
Jamie Duffy invites listeners into the quiet hours of his creative process with For The Moon EP. This intimate collection reflects Jamie's relationship with darkness and the peace he finds in the stillness of the night, and the solace he finds from the moon’s “light, mystery and unwavering presence.”
Composed during the early hours at his home in Monaghan, rural Ireland, the EP begins with a deeply personal touch: his grandmother’s voice, captured in a voice note by the fire, inspires two delicate and introspective piano pieces, “For The Moon” and “Now She’s Alone.” Describing the title track, Jamie explains, “‘Now She’s Alone’ is a recording from a standalone piece of improvisation that I never anticipated turning into a tune, let alone a release! I was messing around after a performance of ‘For the Moon’ in soundcheck and just kept playing. It was a little moment of peace and magic and I thought it would fit the EP perfectly.”
For The Moon is out now on all streaming platforms.
