Fatboy Slim's remix of Rodrigo y Gabriela & Pelé's ‘Acredita no Véio’ OUT NOW!
“I am resigned to the fact that I will never share a game of football with this man so I am delighted to be part of his groove. His voice is as silken as his goal scoring skills.” - Norman Cook
Brazilian football legend Pelé released his debut single - ‘Acredita No Véio (Listen To The Old Man)’ - last month. The track is a unique collaboration between Pelé and Grammy award winning Mexican guitarists Rodrigo y Gabriela, and came out just ahead of Pelé’s 80th birthday celebrations.
The initial response worldwide to the track has been fantastic, from football fans and music lovers alike. Global media coverage followed, including BBC Football Focus, The Today Programme on BBC Radio 4, L’Equipe in France, ESPN, Fox Sports, UOL Brazil, Sopitas Mexico, plus stories and features running from Paraguay to Indonesia. FIFA used ‘Acredita No Véio’ in their own online birthday celebrations for the Great Man.
Pelé and Rodrigo y Gabriela are thrilled that Norman Cook has cooked up a Fatboy Slim remix of the track (the first Fatboy Slim remix in three years) to keep the celebrations going.
Not only does Norman Cook love football, he also loves Brazil. What's more, Brazil loves him back. His first gig there was in 2004, playing to over 300,000 people on the beach in Rio De Janeiro at carnival time. Since then, he has been a regular visitor, making three trips a year, every year up until recently. In 2014, he curated a compilation - Bem Brasil - which was released by Universal to coincide with the 2014 World Cup Finals in the country.
Pelé featuring Rodrigo y Gabriela - ‘Acredita No Véio (Listen To The Old Man) - Fatboy Slim Remix’ is released worldwide on Rubyworks on Friday 20th November.
